Our Hammam towels are made from pure organic cotton. Basically, the Pestemals are all robust and easy to care for. Before washing for the first time, it makes sense to soak the towel in cold water for twelve hours, as this makes it more absorbent. The cotton basically learns to absorb water. And soaking prevents the Hammam towel from shrinking in subsequent washes, and you can also use it to check its color fastness. Pestemals are basically colorfast, but since the cotton is dyed individually by each weaving mill, we cannot guarantee the color fastness for all models. Soaking prevents surprises and the Hammam towels should no longer release any color after the second wash at the latest.
Washing instructions for Hammam towels:
In the long term, you can wash your new Hammam towel at 40 degrees. Many of our customers prefer washing at 60 degrees, as the Hammam towels are used as sauna towels. This is possible, but in this case you should expect the Pestemal to lose around one centimeter in length and width, so it may shrink slightly. The same applies to the tumble dryer - here too, slight shrinkage of one to two centimeters is to be expected. The most gentle and energy-saving way to dry is hanging.

A thread is loose, what can I do?
Each of our Hammam towels undergoes a quality check before we ship it, but hand-woven Hammam towels are never 100 percent perfect, that is the nature of things and is what makes a hand-made product so charming. If a thread pulls during use, you can try to thread it back in by pulling on the towel. If necessary, simply cut the thread off; the Pestemal will not fall apart because of this.
The warp threads have come loose, what can I do?
The ends of the Hammam towels are twisted and knotted by hand. After repeated use, individual knots can come loose. With a little skill, you can twist the ends back in and knot them again.
